WINTER GARDEN — Darryl Rutland remembers coming to the Maryland Fried Chicken here with his dad when he was a 7- or 8-year-old. On Wednesday, the now 60-year-old living in Apopka got his two-piece chicken and fries meal with his friend Melvin Jones, 61, of Apopka, which could be one of their last meals in the restaurant. The Winter Garden Maryland Fried Chicken is expected to close April 1. 'I was born in Winter Garden so I've been coming here about 50 years,' said Rutland, who plans to return before it shuts down.
