In February, Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) CEO Andy Jassy acknowledged the e-commerce giant was taking a pause in opening new locations of its Amazon Fresh grocery store concept. It was news that came as a blow for certain stakeholders in metro Orlando, where locations for the new concept were expected to open in Apopka, Maitland and Winter Garden — especially for the developers, property owners and co-tenants involved at those sites who were banking on the traffic the stores would generate. Now, more than three months later, the pause endures and shows signs of being indefinite — as expected locations in other markets where Amazon Fresh was to expand are becoming the subjects of litigation and subleasing activity.
